UKIP's Neil Hamilton seeks to heal rift with Nathan Gill

One of UKIP's most high-profile candidates for the Welsh Assembly election has sought to calm a rift between himself and the party's leader in Wales.

Former Tory MP Neil Hamilton said he was not worried when Nathan Gill admitted he would not have chosen him to stand for UKIP in May.

Some UKIP activists claimed Mr Hamilton and fellow ex-Tory MP Mark Reckless were being imposed on Wales by party HQ in London at the expense of local contenders.

Mr Gill told BBC Wales' Ask the Leader programme he accepted the former MPs as the democratic choice of UKIP members in Wales.
