Teachers in England strike over pay and conditions

Thousands of pupils in England faced school closures or disruption as the National Union of Teachers staged a one-day strike over funding.

The action comes after the NUT said budget cuts meant increased workloads for staff and bigger class sizes.

But the government said the action would damage pupils' education - and the reputation of teachers.
