University complaints by students top 20,000

Complaints about universities have risen by ten per cent since tuition fees of up to £9000-per-year were introduced in 2012.

Figures obtained by the BBC show students lodged more than 20,000 grievances and appeals last year.

The amount paid out in compensation had also risen.
