David Cameron joins university segregation row

The prime minister has strongly condemned university leaders whose guidance endorses the segregation of men and women at events on campus.

Universities UK said that separating audiences by gender might be "appropriate" in certain "circumstances".

However David Cameron's official spokesman said the organisation should urgently review its guidance. Chris Mason reports.
