Butlin's: 'Tourism VAT should be cut to five per cent'

Butlin's is urging the Government to cut VAT in the tourism sector during school holidays.

Dermot King, managing director of Butlin's and chairman of the Cut Tourism VAT campaign tells the Today Programme that cutting the rate would make the UK more competitive with EU nations with lower VAT on accommodation and attractions.

He wants VAT across the tourism industry to be cut from its current 20 per cent to five per cent.
