Why has George Osborne abandoned a key economic target?

The Chancellor George Osborne has abandoned one of his principal economic targets: that of restoring government finances to a surplus by 2020.

It's been one of the Chancellor's key austerity pledges but Mr Osborne said the UK must now be "realistic" in the light of the economic shock post-Brexit.
