Ofcom orders BT to open up cable network to competitors

Communications watchdog Ofcom has ruled that BT Openreach, which lays phone and broadband cables to most households and businesses, must give rival firms access to its network.

The regulator stopped short of demanding that BT be split up, but said this was still an option.
