Mark Carney: No immediate rise in interest rates

The Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has ruled out an immediate rise in interest rates because of the weakening outlook for the economy.

Six months ago he had suggested rates would rise around now but said in a speech on Tuesday that turmoil in the global economy and weaker UK growth meant a rise was unlikely for the time being.
