Market volatility ahead as shares predicted to fall

The former treasurer of the Conservative Party has warned of market volatility ahead as global share prices are predicted to fall.

Michael Spencer, the chief executive of the City broking firm ICAP, believes that the collapse in the share price of mining companies last year could be a sign of market pain to come.

He told BBC business editor Kamal Ahmed that there could be a "material correction" - downwards - in the value of the markets.
