Currency weakness hit Singtel profit

The telecoms industry is 'never boring' says the boss of Singtel, Asia's biggest telecoms company, as it looks to keep up with competition from new rivals such as messaging apps like WhatsApp.

The company's latest profits were flat - but part of the problem was the exchange rate. Based in Singapore, it makes most of its money elsewhere leaving it particularly vulnerable.
