South Stream halt shows 'good example of unity'

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced earlier this week that the proposed South Stream gas pipeline will not go ahead.

The project had raised concerns in Europe that it would concentrate yet more power in the hands of Russia's state energy firm, which would control both the gas supply and the pipeline.

Speaking to the BBC's Vishala Sri Pathma, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said that the decision was proof that Europe's tough stance is working.
