Osborne on inflation: 'Long-term plan working'

The UK inflation rate, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index, fell to 1.2% in September from 1.5% the month before, according to official figures.

The rate is the lowest since September 2009, when it was 1.1%.

Chancellor George Osborne described the figures as "a double dose of good economic news, for families and for pensioners" and argued that it was evidence that his long-term economic plan was "not just working, but working for you".
