Co-op Group chairman quits over Paul Flowers drugs claims

The Chairman of the Co-op Group Len Wardle has resigned as the scandal surrounding the former chairman of the Co-op Bank shows no sign of abating.

Mr Wardle led the board that appointed Paul Flowers in 2010 and said it was time for a real change in the way the group is managed. Mr Flowers, a Methodist minister, was filmed allegedly trying to buy cocaine and other illegal drugs.

It has also emerged Mr Flowers resigned as a councillor in Bradford two years ago after inappropriate adult content was found on his laptop.

Robert Peston reports.
