Bhutan prime minister: 'No shortcut to growth'

The Himalayan nation of Bhutan is famous for measuring its prosperity through its people's happiness levels.

Instead of gross domestic product, it uses a "gross national happiness" index.

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay told the BBC's Anbarasan Ethirajan that the happiness measurement had served the country well.

But he said the government should not be distracted by the discussion around the measure of happiness and should focus on key growth issues if it wants to raise living standards.
