BSA chief: Worst is over for housing market

For the first time in three years the majority of homeowners think house prices are are going to rise: this is the message from the Building Societies Association (BSA) who survey opinion four times a year.

Adrian Coles, the BSA's director general, told the Today programme: "Confidence is returning to the market.

"The scope for increased number of transactions and more house building has increased, and broadly speaking I think we can conclude the worst is over for the housing market and things should look up modestly over the next year or two."

First broadcast on the Today programme on Tuesday 18 June.
