Marks and Spencer reports 9.7% fall in profits

Marks and Spencer, the UK's biggest clothing retailer, has reported an almost 10% fall in profits for the first half of this year.

It is the retailer's worst performance for more than three years. The profit fall is being blamed on poor sales of its women's clothing.
