Heating costs ease inflation in February

Inflation has fallen to its lowest level for 15 months. The rate, as measured by the consumer prices index (CPI), dropped last month to 3.4%.

It had been 3.6% in January. The other rate of inflation, the Retail Price Index, fell by two points to 3.7%.

Darren Morgan from the Office for National statistics said falling energy bills had helped bring the rate down.
