Clinton Cards posts profits but is still struggling

Clinton Cards has reported a sales increase for the month of December but the shop chain is still in trouble.

Since taking over rival Birthday shops in March, it has put its Ireland branches into liquidation and in October the company announced losses in excess of £10 million, compared to a profit of almost £12 million the year before.

Bryan Roberts from Kantar Retail told Radio 5 live Breakfast if the firm would survive the economic downturn.
