Can plane makers thrive in Mid East?

While the Middle East is known for being a big buyers of aircraft, it is also trying to become a big supplier in the aviation industry, by building an aerospace manufacturing sector.

But are there the skills, innovation and resources in this region to make this a thriving industry?

And is there the appetite from plane makers to buy components from an area with with no history of aerospace manufacturing?
