Italy's technocrat cabinet faces 'phenomenal task'

Italian prime minister-designate Mario Monti has unveiled a technocratic cabinet to steer Italy through its debt crisis, naming himself as economy minister, and appointing banker Corrado Passera to lead a super-ministry of development, infrastructure and transport.

The challenges facing the new leaders are vast, with analysts expecting they will have to employ unpopular measures such as reintroducing some form of wealth tax.
