New strategy to increase number of tourists to US

The US has never had a national tourism policy but that changes this week when the Corporation for Travel Promotion launches its tourism strategy.

The goal is to reverse a decline in visitors to the country.

The US share of international arrivals has fallen by more than third since 2000.

Stephen J Cloobeck is chairman of the Corporation for Travel Promotion and is also the chief executive of Diamond Resorts in Las Vegas. He explained why the US had become less popular as a tourist destination.
