GDP: UK economy grows by 0.5% is 'important step forward'

Official figures suggest the UK economy grew by more than expected between July and September.

Economic output increased by 0.5%, compared with a rise of 0.1% in the previous three months.

The Chancellor, George Osborne, said the figures were an important step forward.
