Japan's damaged communications network is a huge problem for emergency workers.

Mobile phone coverage has been hit, internet connections are down and some undersea cables linking Japan to the rest of the world have been broken.

Caroline Hepker has been talking to the head of NTT America, the US arm of the Japanese telecoms giant.
