Tobacco manufacturers against new smoking measures

The government is to force shops in England to keep displays of cigarettes, and other tobacco products, out of sight of customers.

The measure will have an impact on supermarkets from April next year, but smaller shops will have three extra years to comply.

Chris Ogden, the chief executive of the Tobacco Manufacturers Association, is against the move saying the ban will cause ''huge inconvenience to retailers''.
