'Ticket hikes means worse quality of life'

Plans for £8bn of investment in Britain's railways have been announced by the government.

It is buying about 2,000 new carriages to tackle overcrowding, electrifying some lines and pressing ahead with the Thameslink programme.

Included will be improvements to the Bedford to London line. Dave Garrett, who commutes on the line, said increasing the quality of the journey is good but price hikes will affect his family life.
