South African newspaper launch delay 'not anticipated'

The managing editor of a new South African newspaper, Gary Naidoo, said he "never anticipated" five of its editors resigning before launch.

The senior staff at The New Age, which promises "more positive" news, have not given their reasons for standing down.

Mr Naidoo told the BBC's Karen Allen that the editorial content would be "supportive of any government of the day", but denied that the newspaper's owners were too close to the governing African National Congress and President Jacob Zuma.
