BHP Billiton reports a rise in iron ore production
The world's largest mining company BHP Billiton Ltd has reported first-quarter iron-ore production rose by 6%. The company has expanded mining in Western Australia to meet steel demand.
However, analysts predict the company will report a fall in the production of petroleum thanks to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It is also thought coal production has fallen due to bad weather in Australia.
Phil Mercer reports.
