Shoplifting costs UK stores more than £4bn

Shoplifters stole more than £4bn worth of goods from UK stores in the past year, according to a survey of retailers.

The figures suggest that more than a third of the thefts were carried out by shop staff.

Branded clothing is the most popular target for thieves, but meat, cheese and alcohol are also commonly taken.
