US census figures show rise in poverty
The US census figures from 2009, Obama's first year of presidency, show a rise of 14.3% in the number of people living in poverty.
They confirm that as many as 1 in 7 Americans qualified as poor in 2009 - the biggest jump since records began in the 1950s.
Michelle Fleury reports from Poughkeepsie in upstate New York, where the poverty rate is above the national average.
