Ramadan food prices soar in Bangladesh despite pledge

Muslims are celebrating the holy month of Ramadan. The celebration is often accompanied by a rise in costs as families stock up to break the daily fast.

Bangladesh had sought to moderate the rise after winning assurances from traders that they would not inflate prices. However, some ingredients have still shot up by as much as 30%.
