Hot tub adrift in English Channel

A hot tub is adrift in the English Channel after it came loose from a sinking houseboat, the RNLI has said.

A Newhaven lifeboat was called out to the emergency shortly after 17:00 BST on Wednesday.

The crew filmed the boat sinking and floating debris, as well as a hot tub which was too large to recover.

A tug had been towing the stricken vessel and a second boat, which had been on their way to the Thames area.

The location of the wreck has been marked and Dover Coastguard said the debris was currently south of Beachy Head. A navigation warning has been issued for the area.
