Tough challenges facing Lagarde as new IMF boss

After weeks of campaigning and negotiations, France's Christine Lagarde has officially been named as the new managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

She is the first woman to head up the organisation and continues the established tradition of having a European in the top job.

But in the wake of the debt crisis engulfing several European countries, Ms Lagarde faces some tough challenges ahead, as the BBC's Michelle Fleury reports from Washington.
