In pictures: Plane bomb plot
Security forces in the Yemeni capital Sanaa have been on the alert since an apparent cargo plane bomb plot by Yemeni-based militants was intercepted.
Two explosive devices were found in packages. One was intercepted at East Midlands Airport, in the UK. The other was found aboard a cargo plane in Dubai.
In Dubai, the printer was packed into a box which also included a textbook on management, a copy of George Eliot's novel Mill On The Floss, several shawls and a model building.
The printer had explosives loaded into its toner cartridge and a mobile phone SIM card believed to be the detonator.
The explosive is believed to be PETN, previously used by al-Qaeda suspects.
Officials in the UK and Dubai are still examining the devices to try to work out how and where they might have been detonated.
The device found at East Midlands Airport had also been inserted into a printer cartridge.
Security has been raised in Yemen, with government officials mounting a search for the suspected al-Qaeda militant believed to behind the plot.
