Man critical after Birmingham shop stabbing
A man believed to be in his 30s is said to be in a critical condition after suffering a stab wound in a shop in east Birmingham.
A woman in the Yardley Road store, Acocks Green, had a cut to her arm.
West Midlands police, who were called at 1645 BST, said the offender had left on foot along Yardley Road towards Augusta Road.
The force said inquiries into the stabbing inside a "small local shop" were at a very early stage.
Det Insp Buck Rogers said: "We urgently appeal for anyone who was in the area around 4.45pm to 5pm to come forward and pass on any information they may have.
"This is a very busy road and many people will have been in the area, or passing through, at the time.
"They could well hold information which may prove vital as this investigation progresses."
A police spokesman said local officers were conducting reassurance patrols in the area and making inquiries into the offence.
Anyone with information which could help the investigation has been asked to contact Stechford Police Station or the Crimestoppers service.
