Suspect package shuts part of Birmingham city centre

Help

An area of Birmingham city centre was cordoned off after reports of a suspicious package being put through the postbox of the Refugee Council.

The Council's building in Lionel Street was evacuated along with several others nearby and some train services at Snow Hill station were suspended.

As a precaution police said they had closed Lionel Street, Constitution Hill and Livery Street.

About 300 people were asked to leave offices and buildings, police said.
