Teenager in deliberate hit-and-run in Middleton.

A 17-year-old has been the victim of a deliberate hit-and-run during a street attack in Greater Manchester.

The teenager was beaten and then hit by a Toyota, which turned round and tried to run him over again on Long Street, Middleton, early on Saturday.

Police said the red car drove off after the attack, which involved two groups of men who got into an argument.

The youth is recovering in hospital where he is being treated for a broken leg and head injuries.

Det Con Chris Whalley, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We're still trying to piece together exactly what happened to this young man before and during this nasty attack.

"What is clear is that he suffered injuries which are serious.

"That is why it is so important we speak to anyone who may have been around in the early hours of Saturday and seen any part of what took place.

"The people capable of carrying out such an attack must have no conscience and we are doing everything we can to find them and lock them up."
