Mother of children killed in Bradford house fire dies

A woman badly injured in a house fire in Bradford which claimed the lives of her two children has died in hospital.

Alina Shah, 10, and her brother Aman, eight, were fatally injured at their home in Hendford Drive on 6 July.

The condition of their 30-year-old mother Iram Shah had been improving, but West Yorkshire Police said she had died in hospital on Monday night.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murders of the two children. Another man, aged 18, has been bailed.

Alina died at the scene of the fire. Her brother was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.

Asjid Mahmood, of Pollard Lane, Undercliffe, Bradford, appeared before city magistrates on Saturday.

He appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody until October.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the fire to contact them.
