Stab death after fight in Bilston prompts murder probe
A murder investigation has begun after a man was fatally stabbed during a fight thought to have involved two groups in Bilston, West Midlands.
Officers were called to reports of a fight in Church Street and Lichfield Street at 2320 BST on Saturday.
Thomas Berry, 34, of Bilston died from stab wounds and two other men were taken to hospital with stab injuries.
Anyone involved in the fight is advised to contact police. Three men arrested at the scene have been bailed.
A post-mortem examination is due to be held later to determine Mr Berry's precise cause of death.
A wide cordon has been put up between the town hall and Spread Eagle public house where the fighting is believed to have taken place.
Officers are making house-to-house inquiries in the nearby area.
Det Insp Gary Dring, of West Midlands Police, said: "A number of witnesses have come forward and we are grateful to them.
"We especially urge those who were involved in the disorder to come forward.
"We have a large and fast-paced inquiry and it is in their best interest to come to the police as soon as possible."
