Man admits causing death of Essex cyclist

A man has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following a collision in Essex last year.

Cyclist Nigel Garrett, 43, of Newington Avenue, Southend, died in the incident in Lifstan Way, Southend, early on 4 July 2009.

William Nash, 20, of Seaview Drive, Great Wakering, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court.

He was bailed to return to the court for sentencing on 16 August.
