A man has appeared in court after being extradited from Spain to face a charge of murdering a Surrey mother-of-three.

The body of Sarah Thomas, 38, was discovered at a property in High Street, Nutfield, on 10 May.

Detectives escorted David Baxendale, 39, on a flight from Madrid to London on Thursday.

He appeared at Guildford Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody ahead of a bail hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday.

Spanish police arrested Mr Baxendale in the tourist resort of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol on 21 June.

A post-mortem examination found Miss Thomas had suffered a number of injuries including a stab wound to her neck.
