Police see man hit wall during 'boy racer' operation

A man has been charged with several driving offences after a car crashed into a wall in front of police talking to "boy racers".

Officers had just moved on a group of drivers on the Asda car park in Pearson Street, Brierley Hill, in the Black Country when the incident happened.

A red Volkswagen Golf GTI turbo hit the wall next to the supermarket on Friday evening, police said.

A 27-year-old was also charged with possession of a class B drug.

He will appear before magistrates in Dudley on 13 July accused of driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance, police said.

The driver was unhurt, however a significant amount of damage was caused to the wall, railings and footpath.

Police said the operation to tackle so-called "boy racers" in the area had been a success.
