Sark to lower homosexual age of consent
- Published
Sark's homosexual age of consent will be lowered from 21 to 16, the same as the heterosexual age of consent.
The move by Chief Pleas followed advice that the current law was contrary to the island's obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights.
Richard McMahon, HM Comptroller, said the current law could lead someone to "claim a violation of his rights".
Once legislation to make the age of consent 16 has been drawn up it will go before Chief Pleas for approval.
