Man denies murder of partner's baby boy in Lancashire

A man from Lancashire has denied murdering his partner's 15-month-old baby.

Charlie Hunt was pronounced dead after being taken to Airedale Hospital in West Yorkshire on 19 November.

Darren Newton, of Warwick Drive, Earby, also denied two counts of child cruelty but pleaded guilty to 12 other counts of child cruelty.

The 31-year-old was remanded in custody at Preston Crown Court. He is due to stand trial in November.

A post-mortem examination found Charlie had died from head injuries, police said.
