Man is arrested over jaw attack in Oxford

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man suffered a broken jaw during an assault in Oxford.

The victim, 36, had seen a man steal a handbag from a house on Cowley Road at about 2330 BST on Sunday.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault on Union Street, which happened after the man chased the suspect.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.
