Actor dies after Cornwall's Minack Theatre performance

An actor who was airlifted to hospital after falling ill during a theatre performance in Cornwall has died.

The man was taking part in Romeo and Juliet at the open air Minack Theatre when he was taken ill on Monday night with suspected heart problems.

He was not on stage at the cliff-top theatre in Porthcurno at the time.

The actor was winched from the changing room area into a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital where he later died.

The performance of the Shakespeare play was halted while the airlift took place.
