Woman injured in mugging attack in Swindon

Police are hunting a man who left a woman with facial injuries following a mugging in Swindon.

The mother-of-four was robbed at 2300 BST on Friday night as she walked from her home in Mildenhall Way, Penhill, towards Heywood Close.

The offender punched the 24-year-old to the ground and stole her mobile phone and her purse.

The attacker is described as white, aged about 25, clean-shaven and around 5ft 8ins tall.

The victim was left with a badly swollen eye and cuts and bruises to her body.

Sgt Paul Fisher of Wiltshire Police said: "The victim of this cowardly offence is the mother of four small children and regularly walks this way with them as it is close to her home and friends' home.

"She has sustained a nasty facial injury from this attack and had money stolen that was to be used for feeding her family."
