Cigarette raiders target stores in Surrey towns

Thieves looking for cigarettes have targeted stores in two neighbouring towns in Surrey.

Two men forced their way into the Co-Op store, in Croydon Road, Caterham, between 0130 and 0145 BST on Friday and attempted to access a cigarette kiosk.

The store's smoke alarm was activated forcing the offenders to flee the scene empty-handed.

Just before 0150 BST, cigarettes worth about £500 were stolen from Sainsbury's, Station Road East, Oxted.

The suspects, who were described as men wearing dark clothes, were seen leaving the Co-Op in a black BMW car.
