Three arrests made after 'racist' assault in Leicester

Three teenagers have been arrested after two men were subjected to what police believe to be a racially motivated assault in Leicester.

The men suffered head injuries in the attack which happened on Horsefair Street at about 0245 BST on Friday.

They were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment where one of the victims remains.

Two youths aged 17 and an 18-year-old man were arrested at the scene and are currently in police custody.

Det Insp Tony Yarwood said: "This was a nasty attack on these two victims.

"I want the public to be reassured that this is something that Leicestershire Constabulary will not tolerate and that incidents such as these will be taken seriously."
