One dead, three hurt, in accident on A23 near Hickstead

A 19-year-old woman passenger has been killed and three other people have been injured in a car crash n West Sussex.

Police said a silver Peugeot 206 driver lost control on the A23 near Hickstead, at the junction for the A2300, and hit a tree.

The 19-year-old woman who was driving the car, a 16-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man were injured.

Sussex Police said a woman had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed.

The woman who died was from Burgess Hill but has not yet been identified.

All the injured were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Anyone who saw what happened was asked to contact Sussex Police.
