Expectant father killed in County Durham crash

A man who died when he lost control of his car was to become a father.

Daniel Ward died when his Ford Escort failed to negotiate a left hand bend and went into a field near Stockley Farm, Oakenshaw, County Durham.

Durham Police said the 20-year-old, of Grindstead Way, Carville, was due to become a father for the first time.

His parents David and Angela said he had a "great sense of humour" and would be "sadly missed".

Mr Ward worked as a spray painter with his father. A statement from the family said: "Daniel was fanatical about cars and was a hard-working person with a great sense of humour.

"He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends."
